Passing of Charter Member Charlie Jenkins

Charles Melvin Jenkins, 89, of Brandy Station passed away Thursday May 30, 2019. He was born August 14, 1929 to the late Robert and Nellie Brown Jenkins. 
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Olive O. Jenkins (Doodle); three daughters, Peggy Baker (Wayne), Donna Deal (Donnie) and Audrey Bryce; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Gene (Nancy) and Lawrence Jenkins; sisters Frances Cordle and Dot Jones and a host of nieces and nephews. 
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers Robert L. Jenkins Jr. and Marshall Jenkins.
He was a charter member of the Brandy Station Volunteer Fire Department for 68 years. He also attended Stevensburg Baptist Church. Mr. Jenkins worked at Firestone for over 20 years and also owned and managed Sunoco in Culpeper for 9 years. He was passionate about baseball, bluegrass, country and gospel music. Mr. Jenkins had an entertaining personality that everyone who met him enjoyed. He lit up every room he entered. He was a deeply devoted husband and considered his family his greatest blessing.
The family will receive friends on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 6 to 8 pm at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 850 Sperryville Pike, Culpeper, VA.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 11 am at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel with Rev. Phillip Walker officiating. 
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in his name to Brandy Station Volunteer Fire Department or Stevensburg Baptist Church.
